SINGAPORE BIENNALE CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR

 

Experience the Singapore Biennale artworks in fun and interesting ways as we usher in the year of the rooster with free family-friendly activities from 11am to 6pm.

Put your creative caps on as you make wearable crafts of imaginary hybrid creatures. Create your own 3D rooster headgear or masks, and pose proudly with your visually stunning DIY craft and other quirky festive themed props at the festive photo booth. Take a moment to also reflect on the environmental impacts of the festive season has on nature at our craft workshop.


Lion Dance ‘Cai Qing’ Performance | God of Fortune Meet & Greet
Time: 2pm
Venue: Front Lawn
Adding excitement to your festive season is a Lion Dance performance happening right at SAM’s front lawn. Spot the roving God of Fortune as he makes his first appearance at SAM and be amongst the lucky few to grab some tasty treats and snap a selfie with the auspicious mascot!

 

Singapore Biennale Chinese New Year - Cluckin New Year

Cluckin’ New Year
Time: Hourly from 11am – 6pm. Last session at 5pm
Venue: SAM Glass Hall
Create a rooster headgear or mask to welcome the new rooster year! Easy and fun activity for family and friends. Perfect prop for the photo booth and to bring home as a keepsake to remind you of the fun you’ve had at SAM!

 

CNY Festive Photo-Booth
Time: 11am – 6pm
Venue: Outside Glass Hall
Make your trip to the museum a memorable one by dressing up for the festive occasion and getting your snapshots taken at our CNY Festive Photo Booth!

 

Recycle Nature
Time: Hourly from 11am – 6pm. Last session at 5pm.
Venue: Outside Learning Gallery 1, SAM Level 2
The festive season is here, and with it comes an opportunity to have a more environmentally-friendly celebration. Dig a little deeper into some of the environmental impacts the festive season has on natural resources globally, particularly forest resources. Inspired by Han Sai Por’s Black Forest 2016, visitors will create and juxtapose two versions of a forest, one alive and another charred & destroyed from deforestation.

 

Singapore Biennale Chinese New Year - Fantastical Monsters

Fantastical Monsters (15 – 20 minutes activity)
Time: 11am – 6pm
Venue: Outside Learning Gallery 2, SAM Level 2
Be inspired from the artworks of Qiu Zhijie and Tan Zi Hao at the Singapore Biennale! Imagine what mythical creatures you may chance upon if you were an explorer or adventurer on a voyage to distant, mysterious lands. Get crafty and create an imaginary hybrid creature which you can wear around your waist or as a bracelet!
