Singapore Biennale is committed to building new arts audiences and broadening arts participation. An art education & outreach programme for schools has been developed to accompany the Biennale with these aims in mind: Inspire, Instill and Engage through participation. SB2008 is also proud to partner Jet Airways to present Singapore's first Kids' Biennale.
Presented by Jet Airways, Singapore Biennale has worked together with Little Art Bug Workshop to design an integrated programme to introduce Primary school children to this year’s theme of Wonder. Beginning in their classrooms, children will learn both art techniques and concepts inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland and Singapore Biennale artists. Students complete their learning journey at Singapore Biennale with special activities that will help them relate what they have learnt to the best of international contemporary art. The Kids' Biennale will showcase the best works and special projects by participating schools.
So far, more than 36 schools and 8000 students are already participating in this special initiative to rethink what art education means.
Also, don’t miss out on our three Kids’ Day Out sessions, where children can spend a day at the Biennale, having fun and being creative. At each Kid’s Day Out there will activities, including art and craft workshops, face painting and balloon sculpting, and popcorn, candy floss and ice cream will be given out (while stocks last). Each Kids’ Day Out has a special event.
The Kids' Biennale has four main components:
Alice in Wonderland Educational Curriculum
Kids' Day Out! 1: On-the-Spot Art Competition
Kids’ Day Out! 2: The Hunt for The White Rabbits
Kids’ Day Out! 3: Windmills of Wonder Day

The inaugural Kids’ Biennale invites all children to make art for a good cause, where the windmills they create will help raise funds for a children’s charity.
Windmills made by children aged 6 to 12 will entitle them free entry to the Singapore Biennale 2008. The windmills collected from children all across Singapore will culminate in a community art installation at a Singapore Biennale venue, South Beach Development on 2nd November 2008.
A top prize will be awarded to the school that submits the most number of windmills. Two individual winners will also be selected for the Most Wonderful Windmill prize.
From 2nd November 2008, the public is invited to take home a windmill for a $5 donation towards a children’s charity. Each donation entitles them to a lucky draw coupon where they can stand to win airline tickets worth $4000 from Jet Airways.
The simple windmills, decorated with the hopes and dreams of children, are a gentle reminder not to lose our sense of wonder.
The Kids’ Biennale aims to showcase the inspiring creative energy of children and encourage expressions of artistic talent.
