Mission Statement

Volunteers are essential in the effective execution of the Singapore Biennale. As a volunteer, you will be involved in the behind-the-scenes of the Biennale and help bring art and people altogether; to also develop and increase art interest and promote contemporary art in the Singapore society. Every volunteer is encouraged to bring their own unique talents, experiences and knowledge to enrich the mission of the Singapore Biennale.

Application to be a volunteer for SB2006 is currently on-going. Singapore Biennale Secretariat will like to invite anyone from all walks of life to participate in Singapore Biennale's Volunteer Programme. The SB2006 Volunteer will be at the frontline of SB2006's efforts in bringing art into everyday living. By interacting with the public, as well as being central to the behind-the-scenes work, Volunteers can create a clearer understanding of the importance of art.

In addition, they will be able to discover acclaimed artists' processes in creating a piece of work, as well as be involved in the various steps of executing a creative vision. The Volunteers Programme will also provide Volunteers with rare learning opportunities learn new skills and knowledge and meet new friends!

List of Volunteer Programmes & Roles

Volunteers for the Singapore Biennale 2006 Volunteers Programme will have various programmes and roles to participate. Participation as a volunteer is based on qualities that each volunteer possesses, such as experience, enthusiasm, passion, dedication and professionalism.

Each and every role is crucial in success of the Biennale. Below are the various job descriptions of the Volunteer roles.

Exhibition Tour Guide
Exhibition Tour Guides will be the frontline of the Singapore Biennale 2006, meeting guests from all walks of life and introducing them to the works which will be on display during the Biennale. Volunteers will assist in educating the visitors on contemporary artworks exhibited in the Biennale.

Concierge / Customer Relations
Volunteers in this area will be an integral part of the Singapore Biennale. They will be the main contact person for all the international and local visitors. They will help to enhance the experience and assist visitors attending the Singapore Biennale exhibition. They will also assist in the various ticketing duties.

Administrative
Volunteers for the Administrative Programme will be assisting the Singapore Biennale Secretariat in various administrative duties, in areas like marketing, programming and public relations. They will also ensure the effective running of the Volunteer Centre and to handle all volunteer related matters during the Biennale.

Hospitality
Volunteers in the Hospitality Programme will be the Singapore Biennale Secretariat's main contact between artists/guests and the Secretariat. They will assist in enhancing the artists/guests experience while in Singapore and also provide hospitality services to them.

Events Management
Various events will be organised during the period of the Biennale, these include opening and closing events. Volunteers in this area will assist in planning and implementation of various events.

Education & Public Outreach
As Volunteers in the Education & Public Outreach area, they will be heavily involved in the planning and execution of the various Biennale's Education and Outreach programmes. These include symposiums, workshops and talks.

Logistics
Volunteers in this area it will be responsible to maintain security for the art works, as well as be involved in providing visitors with various general information, and enhance visitor experience in a conducive environment.

Programming
Volunteers in this area will assist artists in installation and provide assistance to them. They will ensure the efficient realisation of the artists' works, as well as to provide onsite administrative support for the set up of the art works. You will work under the guidance of experienced technical officers for installation and de-installation of art works.
