BAILLIENCOURT, Agathe de
Agathe de Bailliencourt is a French artist born in Paris in 1974. She currently lives and works in Singapore.
Her work features on paper and canvas, as well as directly applied to walls. Her art draws inspiration from intimate conversations, raw and obsessive expressions of the present self. Agathe's drawings and paintings sometimes include hand-writing or text, using repetition of words. Her wall paintings extend from one wall to the other three-dimensional areas, using the space without limits.
From time to time Agathe lets special collaborations take place in her creative universe. She is currently collaborating with Theseus Chan (Work) on the design of Singapore's first visual arts biennale (SB2006). She did a commission for Colette meets Comme des Garcons Tokyo Store and her first painted wall appeared at the Comme des Garcons Guerilla Store in Singapore. Agathe has also drawn an advertising campaign for Ogilvy & Mather, which won a Gold and a Silver Lion at the 2005 Cannes Lion Awards, and the print winner award at the London International Awards 2004.
Agathe's work has been exhibited at the Shanghai Youth Biennale in 2005 (curator Fumio Nanjo), at Galerie Catherine et Andre Hug in Paris and at Taksu Gallery in Singapore and Malaysia.
